## Aircraft exterior, flight deck and liveries

Adapted from [JMaverick16/Airbus_A330](https://github.com/JMaverick16/Airbus_A330), based on IDG-A33X. Upstream revision `f016c7c0ad8c6c48b7d9eed7ed7dde49dc69059d`. License: GNU GPL v2, retained in `assets/aircraft/LICENSE-GPL-2.0.txt`.

Cockpit authors include Thorsten Herrmann, Josh Davidson, Jonathan Redpath and Andrea Vezzali. Please read `assets/aircraft/UPSTREAM-README.md` and `UPSTREAM-THANKS.md` for the upstream contributors. Airline names and marks remain the property of their owners; no endorsement is implied.

The converted meshes, textures and authoring scripts are accompanied by original AC3D/XML/texture sources. Extract all four archives into one directory:

- [Cockpit textures, part 2](assets/aircraft/source/cockpit-textures-source-2.zip)

[Original interior and engine study generation source](assets/aircraft/source/illustrative-model-source.zip).

The browser displays are newly drawn illustrative canvases. FlightGear's simulator systems are not running here. Passenger/cargo interiors and the engine study are newly authored educational geometry based on public dimensions, not airline-specific or manufacturing CAD.

## Daylight environment

[Kloofendal 48d Partly Cloudy (Pure Sky)](https://polyhaven.com/a/kloofendal_48d_partly_cloudy_puresky), Greg Zaal (original), Jarod Guest (sky edits), from Poly Haven. [CC0 asset license](https://polyhaven.com/license). The current daylight background is included locally at 4K; the earlier 2K source is retained. Asset discovery powered by Poly Haven. The airport and terrain are original procedural geometry; this is not a surveyed real airport.

[Qwantani Sunset (Pure Sky)](https://polyhaven.com/a/qwantani_sunset_puresky), Greg Zaal (photography), Jarod Guest (processing), Poly Haven, CC0. The golden-hour background and reflection environment use this 4K HDR. Verified download metadata is stored in `assets/environment/sunset-source.json`.

## Ground materials

- [Asphalt 04](https://polyhaven.com/a/asphalt_04): Sergej Majboroda (photography), Jenelle van Heerden (processing).
- [Grass Ground](https://polyhaven.com/a/grass_ground): Charlotte Baglioni.

Both are CC0 assets from Poly Haven, included locally as 2K diffuse, OpenGL normal and roughness maps. `assets/environment/environment-sources.json` records download URLs, author credits, original tile sizes and verified file hashes. Runway paint, rubber marks, concrete joints, macro terrain variation, vegetation and airport props are authored for this project.

## Distant orthoimagery

USDA NAIP 2022 imagery, served by USGS / USDA / The National Map, is used as the distant terrain color layer. The unchanged 4000×4000 JPEG covers 20×20 km near Danville, Lizton and North Salem, Indiana. Attribution: USDA Farm Production and Conservation Business Center, Geospatial Enterprise Operations; USGS, USDA, The National Map: Orthoimagery. Public domain, with source and redistribution evidence in `assets/environment/naip-indiana-farmland-source.json`; see the [USDA dataset catalog](https://catalog.data.gov/dataset/national-agriculture-imagery-program-naip-imagery).

The airport, vegetation, elevation and flight route remain an illustrative scene. The imagery is a visual ground reference; this is not a georeferenced reconstruction of an Indiana airport. The image is mirrored beyond its original coverage to fill the distant horizon.

## Software

Three.js r187, MIT license; see `vendor/three/LICENSE`. Draco decoder accompanies Three.js; its upstream license is retained under `vendor/three/examples/jsm/libs/draco/`. Viewer source is distributed with this site under GPL v2 to remain compatible with its aircraft asset distribution; original upstream notices are preserved.

## Flight sound

Original simulator WAV samples from the same FlightGear A330 upstream revision, distributed under GPL v2. They are included locally without altering the PCM data. External engine samples are shared by upstream configurations; they are not represented as verified Airbus or Trent 700 field recordings. The browser mixes low/mid/high engine layers, cabin filtering, ground roll, wind, pushback, landing-gear and touchdown cues. Time acceleration does not pitch-shift the samples.

See [per-file provenance, contributor credits and hashes](assets/audio/audio-attribution.json), the [GPL v2 license](assets/audio/LICENSE-GPL-2.0.txt), and the original configuration and credits in `assets/audio/upstream/`. New cockpit connectivity patches, cabin refinements and their authoring scripts are included with the model source archives linked above.

## Research

Aircraft specifications and technical sources are linked in `assets/docs/sources.json`. Airbus, engine manufacturers and operators retain copyright in their reference documents. They are cited as external references, not distributed as site artwork.

## Web delivery

The online edition packages models with glTF Transform 4.5.1, Draco geometry compression (16-bit positions) and WebP textures at their original resolution. No mesh simplification is applied. Airport texture WebP variants retain the original image dimensions. Original input images and model source archives remain available in the distribution. Aircraft are shown before high-resolution scenery finishes loading; sunset HDR is requested when selected.
